Discover palaces and monasteries just outside of Bucharest! This 6 hour tour includes a visit to Mogosoaia Palace, Stirbei Palace, and Snagov Monastery, resting place of Vlad the Impaler.
We start the day at Mogosoaia Palace, the domain built by Prince Constantin Brancoveanu at the end of the 17th century, in the distinctive Romanian architectural style. Here, we will stroll through the beautiful grounds, take photos by the lake, and enjoy the gardens. We will discover the original kitchen, gate tower, and tour the palace, now a museum showcasing the Prince and his family. Next, we will head over to Stirbei Palace for lunch. The restaurant is located inside the renovated 19th century palace of another Wallachian Prince. Once again, the setting is just as gorgeous as the palace itself, but its beauty is surpassed by that of the unique, neo-gothic chapel. We will end our tour at the Snagov Monastery, a 15th century church complex on an island. Its fame comes from its connection with the infamous Vlad the Impaler, Romanian ruler who inspired Bram Stoker’s Dracula. Vlad was a benefactor to the monastery and it is believed that his body was buried in this church after being beheaded by the Ottoman army. His story is one that will give you goose bumps, especially when you are standing in front of his tomb in this ancient church.
