Take a day trip from Bucharest and discover the top attractions in Romania and Transylvania. This full-day tour will take you to the most famous castles in the country, the Peles and Bran Castles, and to the Medieval Transylvanian town of Brasov.
We will drive into the Carpathians, where the beautiful Peles Castle is set among the mountains. This castle was built by Romania’s first king, Carol I, at the end of the 19th century to be the royal family’s summer residence. It impresses through its architecture, extensive art and weapon collections, and modernity. We will tour the interior of the castle, enjoying the intricate details of every room.
Our next stop is the Bran Castle, also known as, Dracula’s Castle. This 12th century castle is placed high up on a cliff, the perfect setting for Bram Stoker’s novel. Our guide will take you through the castle, telling you all about the dark legends and about the true history of the place. Lunch will be enjoyed in Bran, possibly at the fine restaurant in Queen Mary’s Tea House.
The afternoon will be spent strolling around the cobblestone streets of Brasov, discovering the infamous Black Church, and learning the history of the Transylvanian Saxons of this Medieval Town. You will get to experience the real Transylvania here, with its colourful houses, large gates, and imposing fortifications. It will be the perfect end to our tour, before we cross the Carpathians once again on our way back to Bucharest.
